Description
This is a rare antique large British Anchor Pottery Company - England earthenware centerpiece / console bowl. This lovely Art Nouveau bowl is designed with a wavy edge rim and continuous pattern relief flower design covering the outside rim. There is a unique gradient tan color outside from rim to base with the boldest color along the rim and the base. The interior of bowl is ivory colored glaze with a teal, green and tan almond tree blossom transfer decoration dispersed along the inside rim. The bottom is marked with the British Anchor Pottery Company - England mark and numbered 1539. The guide indicates that this piece dates somewhere from 1891 to 1913.Bowl measures 16-3/4" diameter and stands 5-1/2" high. This is a very heavy, solid piece of pottery.
CONDITION: Glaze has crazing commensurate with age and use. The rim has three chip like marks that look like they have repairs as shown in the photos. There are tiny light discoloring/spots in bowl center and on the bottom as shown in photos. There are two black spots on one of the flowers along the outside of the rim of the vase and there are three glaze pops on the lower outside of the bowl.
